Cathart (pronounced cath-art as in cathartic) is:

Jason Myers, born in Richmond, Virginia.

I like to say that I write music for "sleepers, readers, writers, programmers, and relaxers."

Cathart is primarily influenced by three or four areas:

Classical, such as Chopin and Mozart;
Ambient electronic such as Aphex Twin and Brian Eno;
Post-rock such as Sigur Rós and Mogwai; and
Downtempo such as Air and múm.
